Script Error trying to email an attachment

    Hi All,

I have been having difficulty when I click the "Email" button under the Attachments tab. Normally I can click the button, it opens an email and inserts the email address of the contact and attaches the attachment that I highlighted. The problem started yesterday and tells me the following:

    Script Error

An error occured executing active form script (Account Attachments).

Error in Include Script (SYSTEM: ATTACHMENT SUPPORT): Error calling method cmdEmailClick

Can't create file: 'Name' Quote ('Name' Quote).doc. Right-click the folder you want tot create the file in, and then click Properties on the shortcut menu to check your permissions for the folder.

    at line 464, char 11

Any help with this problem would be appreciated....

Is it possible the file name contains a single or double quote ? (or any illegal filename char) ?

actually it works fine if I go through my app server. For whatever reason it doesn't want to allow me through the normal server. And it's with every attachment, doesn't matter who it's for. Any ideas?

Re: Script Error trying to email an attachment

Looking at the 7.5 version of this script , SLX attempts to use the Windows Shell command to copy the attachment files into the local computers “Temp” directory.  This directory is probably the location the user does not have sufficient rights to.  It copies the files from the SLX attachments directory.  Again this might be the directory that has the problem.

You can tell your temp directory by going to Start…Run. Then type “Temp”.  This will open the temporary folder that SalesLogix would try to use.  Users should have full rights to this directory.

You can tell the attachment directory by looking in the office profile in the SLX administrator.

What version of Operating System is this problem being experienced on, and what version of SalesLogix?

Re: Script Error trying to email an attachment

I am running Win XP Pro SP3. The version of SLX is 7.0.0.1100. I believe I have full rights to the folders mentioned as that is something my IT person has checked in the past (this happened before). The only thing that solved it is to use a different laptop. I know that sounds strange but he was able to use the email button from my account on a different laptop and it worked. All the permissions were fine and hadn't changed. He went ahead and just swapped out the laptop and I haven't had any trouble with it for several months. This week it cropped up again.

Any ideas? I'd love to get this fixed. :)

Re: Script Error trying to email an attachment

Thought I'd ask for any thoughts on this again. I realized that I can click the email button under Attachments for Cover Letters but for quotes I get the error message. I know it has to do with permissions but my IT guy has been through all this before with no luck. It's really frustrating as it really throws off how I send things out. Also, I can use our App Server and send these quotes out fine...
