Error when releasing a plugin
Hello there,
I posted this one on slx developer, but maybe someone can help me here! I've got two legacy views that are quite heavily
customised (the Account detail and Contact detail). I'm trying to add
another edit box to the Account detail view and change one of the
settings on the Contact one. I've done the changes fine in Architect, but I cannot release the plugins. I get the following error message in the clients:
An unsual error has occurred when executing view: Contacts Contact system administrator 0x1@0: Function view: Contacts Exception Could not load plugin system Contact details. Please make sure it is released
Could someone help me please? Thanks

Re: Error when releasing a plugin
Hi Alex,
Are the legacy plugins compatible with your SaleLogix version? If you have upgraded and were using the standard
SalesLogix plugins you may not have noticed an issue. Can you release the standard SalesLogix(non-legacy) plugins successfully?
If you can then you may need to convert your legacy plugins to the new forms.
HTH,
Mark

Re: Error when releasing a plugin
Hi Mark, Thanks for your answer. Yes, my legacy plugins are compatible with my Saleslogix version as they are currently in use. I'm doing my changes on a test system. On one of these plugins I'm trying to change the property of a box - Read only- from True to False. I do the change in Architect, save the plugin (to a different name) and release it, and then get the error message mentioned above. Do I have to change a setting somewhere (in Administrator?), so the new plugin, with a new name is recognised? Thanks, Alex

Re: Error when releasing a plugin
Alex,
The plugins must retain the assigned name. Each time you save a plugin it increments the version so you have the original and the new version available for release. I don't believe the changes you are making are causing the issue.

Mark

Re: Error when releasing a plugin
Yes, it's actually the version that is different, the name stays the same. I've tried do the same change (Read only from True to False) on the Active form, and it worked fine, I've released the plugin, wihout any difficulties. When I do the change on the Legacy form, and release the plugin...no joy... Thanks for your help a.

Re: Error when releasing a plugin
Hi everyone, I come back to this one as I haven't found the solution yet... if somebody's got a spare moment...any help would be much appreciated!
To recap, my Account Details view is a legacy view. A property of one of the boxes in this view is set Read/Only: True. I change this property to False. I save the plugin. I then go back to Manage Plugins. Select the Plugin I've just saved, and release it to Everyone. When I try to open the view in the clients, I get the error mentioned above. Then when I try to release back the first version (with the Read only property set to True), I now get the same error message in the clients.
The only plugin I manage to release and open in the clients is the Active Form one (the out of the box Account Details). Is there a setting somewhere to edit when releasing a legacy plugin? As the view I'm working on is a system view does it envolve anything in particular?
Thank you, Regards

Re: Error when releasing a plugin
Alex,
All versions of SalesLogix including 7.2 support legacy forms but...it may be time to "bite the bullet" and recreate the form using the standard active form as the base.

Re: Error when releasing a plugin
Alex, you are mixing versions - which you cannot do (at least not with other changes anyway !). The mainview for the contact container is set to expect an active form and other views/scripts rely on that. If you absolutely must have a legacy view (which is totally possible!) then you have to save this as Contact Detail and then go and de-release the Active Form of the same name (otherwise, SLX will default to loading AF's only when two plugins of the same name exist).
Then, you may need to check the global scripts to make sure they flow back to your legacy form (as they may, and do, reference things like addresses - which, now you are back in legacy, no longer exists).
So, frankly - I'd give up and convert the form to Active ! You can do this via the Forms Converter.

Re: Error when releasing a plugin
Hi, I've been away and just seen your message; thanks for your reply. I've just had a look again, and the active form is definitely not released. I release the legacy view which is the view that I've always been using before trying to do my little change and the clients do not load it. The legacy view is called contact detail. I will have a look at the form converter, not sure if that my limited knowledge will be enough to transform a legacy view in active form. thank you, regards, Alex

Re: Error when releasing a plugin
No problem. Did you check also that this is what the users' view is set to in Admin (under Security | Entity Name : Contact | Detail View) - you can select the drop-down to pick some other view (or, your view).

Re: Error when releasing a plugin
I haven't got the license to change the views in Admin. This may be the cause then.. as I have under Security | Entity Name Account and in detail view I have: Account Detail [v.0] Every time I edit the view in Architect, and save it, it changes the version number... to v1 , v1.2 etc... Would that be the cause Is there a way to change that? a.

Re: Error when releasing a plugin
Ah right, if you only have the standard license that could be the issue definitely. I'm not how that can be changed if you don't have that license (or how it changed originally as it shouldn't have !) - maybe the BP changed it with a full license and then removed it on install.

Re: Error when releasing a plugin
Correct - you can only edit the ones provided by SLX and you can't have more than one (hence, why it's grayed out) so the issue must be in something the partner did to get these installed. I'd go back to them to get their assistance on this as something is definitely wrong !
