SalesLogix v7.5 Functionality

End User Questions

Today my company performed a sneak peek of SalesLogix v7.5 with the help of one of my Sage Software contacts.  The demo was beautiful and I am getting increasingly excited for the v7.5 release.  The demo was geared toward SalesLogix end users and I thought I'd share some of the questions that came up and the answers to those questions:

  1. Have the contact processes (work flow) improved since 6.2.4?
Workflow is completely new in 7.5 and is no longer limited to Contacts only. Workflow can be applied to any entity and across entities.
  2. Are all of these features available with the LAN-client versus the Web-client?
New features are for the Web client only, the Windows client has not changed in the 7.5 release.
  3. Does SpeedSearch come with the upgrade or is it a separate purchase?
Standard SpeedSearch is included, Advanced SpeedSearch may be an extra cost depending on the server level you own.
  4.  FireFox (3) compatiblity?
Yes, however the active mail, Outlook integration will not function.

I hope to have more information about v7.5 to share with you soon!

Hi Brianna,

I wasn't on the sneak peek demo today (I'm supposed to be on vacation), but wanted to comment a bit on some of this:

Regarding workflow and lan vs web features. I wanted to clarify that the new workflow for 7.5 will be for both web *and* LAN. If a SLX 7.5 install does not even use web at all, they will still be able to take advantage of the powerful new workflow engine in 7.5.

While SLX 7.5 web does look and work great with Firefox, with the exception of the ActiveX components for MailMerge and Outlook integration, it won't be "officially" supported by Sage. That said, I use Firefox with SLX 7.5 exclusively (I don't need or use MailMerge or the Outlook integration). You just wont be able to call support with any issues of something not looking or working quite right using Firefox (which I've not found much that falls into that category). Although it isn't officially supported, I did get word from Sage development that they are committed to fixing issues and making it work right for Firefox.

Glad the demo went well. For anyone that missed it, we'll certainly be having another one in the future. Also, I've posted an overview of features http://customerfx.com/pages/saleslogix/2008/05/02/new-features-coming-in-saleslogix-7-5-quot-sahara-quot-release.aspx and some small, less talked about favorites http://customerfx.com/pages/crmdeveloper/2008/07/11/saleslogix-7-5-beta-testing-has-begun.aspx

Hi Brianna

The changes for LAN isn't quite accurate - there *are* changes for LAN client - notably the *massive* change of adding an attachments tab for any activity/history item - which I think is a real boon/time-saver !!

*AND*

You now get activities and notes-history for leads too !

Regards

Mike

About Brianna Tinjum

I am happy to say I love my job! Everyday there is a new challenge and something new to learn, it keeps things interesting. I was very happy when we started Good Training because it gave me an opportunity to help people and share knowledge. Outside of the office I enjoy being active. When weather permits you may catch me riding my bike around the lakes of Minneapolis or hiking in Northern Minnesota. In the winter I get out snowboarding as much as possible and I always try to take a trip to the mountains. I made it out to Bridger Bowl in Bozeman, MT at the end of February 2008 and it was a fantastic time! Year round I participate in dance and yoga classes to mix things up. I love watching movies and you could say I may have seen too many. :) I also have a passion for reading - if I find a good book it can consume all of my free time.
