And we're adding new members everyday.
This week Good Training hit another milestone - over 600 members! I remember the day Good Training went live in March 2007 and how exciting it was when the first member joined and the first question was posted. I still get excited today, 600 members and many questions later. I never imagined we would have such a large membership in a little over a year. Thank you all for your participation and support!

All ideas are welcome.
Happy Friday! Like many of you I am looking forward to the weekend but I am also looking forward to next week. Why? Because I will be on vacation! I am going on a canoe trip in the Boundary Waters. My goal is to see a moose, they are elusive animals so I am keeping my fingers crossed. The Concierge will keep you up-to-date with any SalesLogix news while I am away.
I just want to remind both old and new members that we gladly take workshop suggestions. If you have any ideas of a new class we can offer please share. Post your workshop ideas.

Good Training membership hits 500!
I am excited to announce that Good Training now has 500 members! This is an exciting milestone for the Good Training sponsors and myself. We've reached this point with minimal advertising in just over a year. I can only assume that the membership growth is due to all of you passing this site along as a great place to get SalesLogix training and information. Thank you all so very much! I want our membership and content to keep growing for years to come and for Good Training to continue to be your favorite source for all things related to SalesLogix training and info. If there is anything we can do to improve this site, and in doing so improve your SalesLogix user experience, please let us know by posting suggestions to the Site Suggestions and Questions forum or the Contact page.
Thanks again!!!

Ask and you shall receive...
We've come to the end of another week and for me it has gone quite fast! I love when that happens. This weekend I am going backpacking in Northern Minnesota, nice weather is predicted for that region of the state and I couldn't be more excited to get up there. I have a site reserved right on Lake Superior and I can only imagine it is going to be beautiful. I hope all of you have good things planned for yourselves as well!
I thought that I would keep the topic light for this Friday and I have a question for all of you out there - are there topics that are not currently listed that you believe would make a good workshop? There are so many features and functionalities in SalesLogix that I have to believe that their are still topics that can be covered. Please don't be shy, speak up - umm write I guess - and let us know how we can help you better use SalesLogix. You can post your suggestions in the Suggest a Workshop forum.
Have a great weekend!

Using the Query Builder for SalesLogix v6.2 and Above.
You asked for it and we complied! It's April Fool's Day today and you'd be a fool not to check out this Workshop. The Query Builder Workshop was an idea/request posted in the Suggest a Workshop forum by one of our members. I thought the idea was great and so did Dale (he conducts the Workshops), and I have finally gotten around to creating the request. I don't have a date scheduled yet, but I will shortly so keep checking back!

The more the merrier!
This week Good Training hit 400 members, and as I write this there are 402. I am happy and excited with the growth we've experienced! We have just begun promoting Good Training and it has been fun to see the membership grow so rapidly.
Some great questions have been flowing in - I think people are starting to get over their shyness - enrollment in Good Workshops has continued to grow, and members are taking advantage of the On Demand training and courseware in Good Content. Even with all of this success we are not going to stop improving the resources we provide.
I will continue to keep you up-to-date with inside SalesLogix information and we are going to continue to perfect our On Demand Workshops (we have big plans to improve our Workshops and I will let you know as the changes happen).
A big thank you for your participation and help in making Good Training a great resource for people who use SalesLogix everyday!

Moving Out of Beta!
Hello everyone,
In the coming weeks Good Training is planning to move out of beta. We are very excited about this and over the weekend we will be make some changes to the structure of the Good Answers forums. Don't worry, you will still be able to ask questions and get answers, and all the content that has been generated thus far will still be here just in a different folder. Here is a look at the new forum structure:
The SalesLogix User Group This is your place to ask questions! Help your fellow members and contribute to the community - the GoodTraining team will pitch in too!
Suggest a Workshop Have an idea for a workshop? Bring it on. If it seems like a topic with broad appeal, we'll create it!
Site Suggestions and Questions We truly welcome your feedback and questions.
The Watercooler Gather 'round and discuss anything not covered in the other forums.
We decided that this approach to the Good Answers forums is straightforward and will simplify your life. Keep posting your questions and suggestions!
Have a great weekend! -Brianna

Thank you!
Over the weekend Good Training grew to just over three hundred members and I couldn't be more pleased! Every week brings more new members interested in furthering their SalesLogix skills and receiving help with SalesLogix related questions. I want to thank every member for the participation in forums and Workshops, and for passing along the Good Training name to other users.
Please remember - we are open to suggestions for new Workshop ideas, content, and anything else you may feel will improve our site!
Regards,
Brianna -

A Datamonitor report predicts yes.
CRM software is a relatively new product and Datamonitor's analysis finds that the market has not matured. In the beginning CRM was mainly utilized by large companies but times are changing and companies of all sizes are realizing the importance of CRM. Obviously many of you know the importance of SalesLogix, I can't imagine my work life without CRM.
"As the increasing number of organizations understand the importance of positive customer experiences and strong customer relationships, the market for customer relationship management applications continues to expand."
I read through the article and found the analysis of the future of CRM, both onsite and hosted, to be quite interesting. If you would like to learn more, check out this brief article here...

Maybe you've had viewing problems too.
Maybe you've noticed that Good Training is still in beta - if you haven't look at the top of the screen on the home page. You may be asking yourself, why is this site still in beta it has been around for a little while now. Well some Good Training members, myself included, have problems viewing the On Demand video Workshops. We had taken steps to improve viewing ability in the past and I had even thought we had gotten it right, then I received a message from a user who was continuing to experience problems viewing the On Demand videos. So we are going to begin taking a new approach. We plan to start creating our videos in Flash technology, this should enable all members to view videos and the picture and sound quality will be much better. It will be a process to recreate all of the videos we currently have but I am excited to be able to offer a better viewing experience to our members! I'll keep you posted as to our progress, I hope to be out of beta soon.

Workshop Suggestions.
Hello everyone,
We are currently working on creating additional Workshops. We would like to cover more areas of SalesLogix so that we may be of greater assistance to all users. Though we will come up with some new SalesLogix features to cover in our Workshops I would like to extend an invitation to our Good Training members to suggest Workshops that you would like to see. Are there areas in SalesLogix you wish you were more confidant in or areas you've never touched but wish you could utilize? If so, please don't hestitate to suggest a topic that you would like to learn about and we will try our best to create a Workshop. Please post Workshop suggestions here...
I also want to point out that two new Workshops have been added to the list: Using the SalesLogix v7.0 Activity Reminder and Running Reports for SalesLogix v7.0. Both have been scheduled for live training.

We've added a new feature to the Good Training site. The site now has it's own custom search provider. A search provider is something that integrates into Internet Explorer v7 or FireFox v2 that allows you to search a website from anywhere. Once you add this search provider to your browser, you'll be able to search the Good Training site from anywhere, without even navigating to the Good Training site first. Just open up a browser window (or use some already open browser window), type in what you're searching for and you'll get a list of matches on the Good Training website. This makes it even easier to search for an answer about SalesLogix and get even more out of the Good Training site!
Here's How it Works
1) When you navigate to the Good Training site, you'll notice the button next to the search bar turns orange. This means it has detected the new Good Training search provider:
Notice the orange button on the far right-side of the window. You can click it and get a drop down which will include a menu option to install the search provider. If you click the down arrow, go to Add Search Provider, and then select "Good Training Search" from the menu to add it, as follows:
Once you select that from the menu, you'll get a dialog prompting you about installing the search provider.

Now that you've added the Good Training Search Provider to your IE7 or FireFox2 browser, you can simply select it at anytime and enter a term to search for, without going to the Good Training site first.

One thing to mention, adding this provider does not actually install anything on your computer, it just add's a bit of XML to your browser so it knows how to find the search capabilities of the Good Training site. If you never use it there's no harm in adding it - but we think that you'll find this to be a useful addition to the Good Training site and make the information you need even more accessible.
Good searching! The Good Training Team

Forum Subscription Change
Hello all, I have an announcement that may affect Good Training members who subscribed to the Good Answers forums: you need to reset your subscriptions!
When we reorganized and consolidated our Workshop Forum folders into one and renamed it Workshop Q & A forum subscriptions were lost. It simple to fix and will only take a few seconds - chose Forum Subscriptions on the right hand side of the Good Answers page and chose the subscriptions you find interesting.
-Brianna -
|
-
Quick Announcement!
If you go into the Good Answer section of Good Training you may notice that something is different. Hmmm, what could it be? Wait, are there folders missing? What happened to the questions I've asked, I may need to reference those again in the future?!
Not to worry, we've just reorganized and have consolidated all of the Workshop Forum folders into one under the SalesLogix User Support Forum. The new folder where all Workshop questions will be placed is now titled "Workshop Q & A". We have done this to make using the Good Answers section easier and much more direct. If you're wondering what happened to all of the content that was in the multiple Workshop Forum folders you'll be happy to know that it has just been moved into the Workshop Q & A folder.
Keep the Workshop questions coming so we can continue to build great content and help SalesLogix users everywhere. Have a fantastic weekend!

Effectively Prospect and Qualify
One of the toughest tasks in the sales process is prospecting and qualifying leads. I found a great article published by Miller Heiman that I think many people, especially those in a sales position, will find tremendously helpful. This article will get you thinking about prospecting and qualifying your leads in a different way and may help to put you in a win-win situation much more often when starting your sales process.
"Effective selling begins with prospecting and qualifying – the disciplined, systematic approach for knowing where and when to focus one’s selling efforts. Effective prospecting and qualifying is a persistent challenge. In our research, over two-thirds of survey respondents consider acquiring new customers "challenging to critically challenging." This underscores the need for effective prospecting and qualifying."
Take a few minutes to read through this article - I bet you will walk away with some useful information!

How Do You Handle Your Key Accounts?
I just read an article published by Miller Heiman that discusses some great facts about key accounts and also brings up some questions that are worth pondering.
" You are likely familiar with the 80/20 rule, but did you know that in most organizations, the ratio has actually grown to an even more alarming proportion? Twenty percent of customers generate 90 percent of the revenue while 30 percent of organizations don't have key account managers."
This article will expire, so if you're interested read it here...

The Expansion of CRM
Every year CRM software becomes increasingly sophisticated - there are more features, integrations, and customization capabilities. So what is next in the world of CRM? I found an article that predicts what will happen with CRM in the near future -
"Gartner predicts CRM software revenue will grow 14 percent this year to exceed $7.4 billion, as SaaS, sales, and foreign markets continue to drive the market."
If you are interested in reading the entire article you can check it out here... -

-
Better Prospecting
"With 63 percent of sales leaders reporting that they are being pushed to increase results with reduced budgets, salespeople face heavy pressure to develop and manage their own leads."
I read a short article published by Miller Heiman which features their sales tip for the month of September. This article gives advice for better prospecting, something I think most people who work in sales will appreciate. Prospecting can be hard - get some tips and read the article here...
Note: This article expires, if you are interested in this topic check it out soon. -

Sage Software Outscores Microsoft, Oracle, SAP and Others
I came across an article highlighting an accomplishment of Sage Software that I thought some of you may find interesting - they received a #1 ranking in support, partnership, and loyalty. This award comes from CMP Channel's VARBusiness Annual Report Card with winners being decided through feedback from more than 5,000 system integrators, IT consulting organizations, value-added resellers (VARs), solution providers and software developers.
"Sage Software today announced that it has earned the top position in the Business Software Strategic and Management categories of the CMP Channel's VARBusiness Annual Report Card (ARC). Now in its 22nd year, the VARBusiness ARC Awards recognize outstanding partner programs and superb vendor service. The ARC awards were held at an awards ceremony on August 21, at the CMP Channel's XChange '07 Conference in Orlando, Florida. "

Discounting
I found an article published by Miller Heiman that is something all SalesLogix users who work in sales should read. The article pertains to discounting and I'm sure if you are a sales person you've encountered customers asking for discounts.
"Discounting is a fact of life in sales and nearly every organization will inevitably find itself in a situation where discounting becomes a deal breaker, some more than others. There’s nothing wrong with discounting per se but if you are discounting significantly, or too frequently, you should consider the potential that you are contributing to your own commoditization."
This article is brief, informative and worth the read. You can check it out here... (note: this article will expire, so if this topic is of interest read it soon!) -

Will You Use Mobile CRM?
With the next version of SalesLogix Mobile CRM becoming available I thought that an article I read today would be appropriate to share with all of you. The article comes from destinationCRM.com, creators of CRM Magazine, and it touches on the future of CRM and mobile technology.
"All of you will have a smartphone in two to three years," predicted Tim Bajarin, president of Creative Strategies. Even at the most basic level of mobile data usage, the current median age of the text messenger is 38, according to Robert Gold, CEO of Gold Mobile. Gold added that by 2010, 38 percent of the work force will be Generation Y, which suggests that the adoption of mobile technology will not be difficult once it is in place.

And We're Still in Beta!
Today Good Training hit 100 members and I couldn't be more proud. Despite the fact that we are still in beta and making minor modifications (most are behind the scenes) our membership continues to grow. In the future we plan to promote and advertise Good Training but up until now we have done neither of these things. This leaves me to conclude that our membership has grown through word-of-mouth and I want to thank each and every member for your questions, participation in Workshops, and suggestions for improving this site. I look forward to continued growth in our membership and the quality of information provided. Again - THANK YOU! -
